Answer:

p(-1) = 1

Note:

★ If the expression for any polynomial p(x) is given , then to fine p(a) we just need to put x = a everywhere in the expression of p(x)

Solution:

Here,

The given polynomial is ;

p(x) = 3x² + x - 1

We need to find the value of given polynomial p(x) at x = -1 , ie ; we need to find p(-1) .

Thus,

If p(x) = 3x² + x - 1

Then ,

=> p(-1) = 3(-1)² + (-1) - 1

=> p(-1) = 3 - 1 - 1

=> p(-1) = 3 - 2

=> p(-1) = 1

Hence,

The required answer is 1 .
