To calculate the readings of vernier callipers follow theses steps:-

1.) See the point at which the 0 of vernier scale meet the main scale .

2.) The vernier scale reading is taken as first mark which coincides with the main scale multiplied by 0.01 cm.

3.) Then add the two readings .

According to question:-

The main scale reading is 7.4 cm (approx).

The vernier scale reading is 5*0.01 cm.

=> 0.05 cm

Final reading = 7.4 + 0.05 = 7.45 cm
