Yes we have experienced above situation

we felt this because according to Newton's second law of motion (If you feel that saying the name of this law would make it sound more complex, you don't have to), every object will continue in its motion (speed and direction - remember both of them) unless a force is applied on it. When speaking on momentum, according to this law an object wouldn't experience a change in its momentum unless an impulse is applied on it (which is force that is applied for a time interval) so if an object has a certain momentum and an impulse is applied on it in the opposite direction of its movement, it will slow down and if it is applied in the direction of its movement it will accelerate.

we feel that train beside us is at rest as our train is moving but it is opposite.
