 z_{1} = 4 + 7i

z_{2} = 1 - i

z_{1} +  \lambda z_{1} = 4 + 7i +  \lambda -  \lambda i

If λ ∈ ℝ

 Im( z_{1} +  \lambda z_{2}) = 7- \lambda = 0

 \implies \boxed { \lambda =  7}
