First of all we have to make a number line.

Then, draw a perpendicular line of 1 cm fom 1 and draw and then with the help of pythagoras theorem it will be:

longest side²=base²+hypotenuse²

longest side²= 1²+1²

longest side² =1+1

longest side²=2

longest side=root 2 (square will goes on 2 and it will convert as root 2)

and then name that side as root 2 then make an arc from root 2 and name the point as root 2 where that arc cuts..

that was the answer of how to represent root 2 on the number line..
