Ans

Explanation:

In 1st =n

Ferrous sulphate is formed

mass of fe = 0.79g

mass of S= 0.4g

(Fe+S=FeS)

0.79g of Fe combines with 0.4g of S

=> 1g of Fe combines with 0.4/0.79 = 4/7.9 ~ 4/7 (i)

also,

in 2nd =n

Ferrous sulphide is formed (FeS)

mass of Fe= 2.8 g

mass of FeS = 4.4g

mass of S= 4.4 - 2.8 = 1.6 g

2.8g Fe combines with 1.6 g S

1g Fe combines with 1.6/2.8 = 4/7 (ii)

(i) = (ii)

hence verified
