Answer:

6 sq unit = area of shaded region

Step-by-step explanation:

We see that side is 4. It is divided into three equal parts.

So area of triangle on right = 1/2 Base ☓ height

Area of triangle 1 = 1/2 ☓ 4/3 ☓ 3 ☓ 4

⏩ Area of triangle 1 = 8 sq units

Now,

In triangle on left we see,

Height = 4

Base = 2 (4/2 as points divide it into two parts)

Area of triangle 2 = 1/2 Base ☓ height

Area of triangle 2 = 1/2 ☓ 2 ☓ 4

⏩ Area of triangle 2 = 4 sq unit

Now,

Subtract area of triangle 2 from 1

8 - 4 = 4 units

✔️When we subtract area triangle 2 from area triangle 1 then we get 2 times area of common triangle (since its common to both the triangle so its included in area of both triangles)

✔️2 area of common triangle say triangle 3 = 4

✔️Area triangle 3 = 4/2 = 2

➡️ Now area of un shaded region =

Area if triangle 1 + area triangle 2 - area triangle 3 = 8 + 4 - 2

Area of unshaded region = 12 - 2

➡️ Area of unshaded region = 10

➡️ Area of square = 4 ☓ 4 = 16

➡️ Area of shaded region = area of square - area of unshaded region

➡️ Area of shaded region = 16 - 10

✨ Area of shaded region = 6 units.
