The American Robin is a member of the Bluebird and Thrush family. It is called the American Robin because it was named after a similar (though smaller) bird found in Great Britain. The male Robin's most striking feature is his red/orange breast and belly. Robins are also a sign of spring.

The American robin is a migratory songbird of the true thrush genus and Turdidae, the wider thrush family. It is named after the European robin because of its reddish-orange breast, though the two species are not closely related, with the European robin belonging to the Old World flycatcher family.

Lifespan: 2 years (In the wild)

Kingdom: Animalia

Did you know: The American Robin is also known as the North American Robin (Turdus migratorius).
