Answer:

Explanation:mercury is used in thermometers as it is a liquid form of gas and only liquid can be there in thermometers to give proper understanding.

There are two major types of thermometers

1- clinical thermometers

2- laboratory thermometers

Clinical thermometers- the thermometers used for measuring the temperature of human body is called clinical thermometer

The temperature scale of this thermometer is 35°C to 42°C

It has a kink to prevent back flow of mercury into the bulb when taken out from the mouth

MODES OF HEAT TRANSFER-

CONVECTION

CONDUCTION

RADIATION

LABORATORY THERMOMETERS-

A laboratory thermometer is used to measure temperature in science laboratory.

The temperature scale -10°C to 110°C

It can not be used to measure a human body temperature as the thermometer taken out from the mouth the mercury will go back to bulb

Hope it helps
