Human activities are responsible for ecological imbalance. Increasing human population resulting urbanization and industrialization, use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides introduce many unwanted substances in the environment, disturbing the balanced system of the environment, which is known as ecological imbalance. The major ecological imbalances are greenhouse effects, depletion of ozone layer and acid rain.

Consequences of high greenhouse gases:

1. It results in the increase in temperature of the earth causing global warming and increases in sea level due to the melting of polar caps.

2. Warming up of the atmosphere causes natural calamities like flood, hurricanes, and cyclones nearby the oceans.

Consequences of Depletion of ozone layer:
1. More UV radiations increases the earth’s temperature and harnful UV radiations may cause skin cancer.
2. Higher UV radiation reduces the photosynthesis thus, reducing the productivity of crops.


Consequences of Acid rain:
1. Acid rain creates particles in the air that can cause respiratory problems and building materials to decay more rapidly.

2. Acid rain when mixed into the soil, dissolves many of the essential nutrients the plant needs.
