Given :-

The area of a trapezium is 75 cm² and its height is 5 cm. If one of the parallel side is longer than the other by 10cm, find the two parallel sides.

Solution :-

  • Let one parallel side be x. The other parallel side will be x + 10
  • We know that,

        Are of trapezium = \sf\frac{1}{2}h(a + b)

        Where,

       → h = height

     → a & b are parallel sides

  • Here, a = x , b = x + 10 , h = 5, A = 75

  ⇒ 75 = \sf\frac{1}{2}(5)(x + x + 10)

  ⇒ \sf\frac{150}{5} = 2x + 10

  ⇒ 30 = 2x + 10

  ⇒ 2x = 20

  ⇒ x = 10

→ x + 10 = 20

The parallel sides are 10 cm and 20 cm
