Step-by-step explanation:

(i)

We know Area of triangle = 1/2 * B * H

                                           = 1/2 * AB * AC

                                           = 1/2 * 4 * 3

                                           = 6 cm²

(ii)

We apply Pythagoras theorem in Δ ABC  and get

BC² = AB² + AC²

⇒ BC² = 3² + 4²

⇒ BC² = 25

⇒ BC = 5 cm

(iii)

We apply Pythagoras theorem in Δ ABD  and get

AB² =  AD² + BD² ,

AD² =  3² - BD²

AD² =  9 - BD²                                     --- ( 1 )

And apply Pythagoras theorem in ΔACD  and get

AC² =  AD² + CD² ,

AD² =  AC² - CD²

AD² =  AC² - ( BC - BD )²

AD2² =  9 - ( 25 + BD² - 10 BD )

AD² =  9 - 25 - BD² + 10 BD

10 BD = 25

BD = 2.5

Substitute that value in equation 1 we get

AD² = 9 - ( 2.5 )²

        = 9 - 6.25

        = 2.75

AD = 1.65 cm

Therefore,

The length of altitude from A to BC =  Ad  = 1.65 cm
