In first parallel series

R1=6 ohm

R2=3 ohm

EQUIVALENT RESISTANCE=1/R(eq)=1/6 +1/3=(1+2)/6=3/6=1/2

                                     R(eq)=2 ohm

In second parallel series

R1=2 ohm

R2=4 ohm

R3=8 ohm

EQUIVALENT RESISTANCE=1/R(eq)=1/2 +1/4 +1/8=(4+2+1)/8=7/8

                                     R(eq)=8/7 ohm

In series we add both the resistance as both the parallel combinations are in series

R(series)=8/7 + 2=(8+14)/7=22/7 ohm
