Hello !!!!

C) FLAGELLA

Flagellum (plural flagella) is a long hair-like structure that primarily acts as an organelle for locomotion .

They are filamentous structures found in Archaea , eukaryotes and bacteria.

The word 'FLAGELLUM' means " WHIP" , the bacteria has a whip-like appearance that helps the cell to propel through a liquid.

Types of flagella :

  • MONOTRICHOUS : Single polar flagellum.

  • AMPHITRICHOUS : Single flagellum on both sides.

  • LOPHOTRICHOUS : Tufts of flagella at one side or both sides.

  • PETRITRICHOUS : Numerous flagella all over the bacterial body .
