Thanks for asking the question!

ANSWER::

(a) -5/6 , -7/-12

-5/6 , 7/12

In this one rational number i.e. 7/12 is positive and another rational number -5/6 is negative so , the positive rational number is greater which is 7/12

(b) -4/9 , 5/-12

In this first lets make denominator of both rational numbers same.

LCM of 9 and 12 = 36

-16/36 , -20/36

So , the first rational number -16/36 is greater.

(c) -5/8 , -7/12

In this first lets make denominator of both rational numbers same.

LCM of 8 and 12 = 24

-15/24 , -14/24

So , the second rational number -14/24 is greater.

(d) 16/-5 , 3

In this one rational number i.e. 3 is positive and another rational number 16/-5 is negative so , the positive rational number is greater which is 3.

(e) -4/3 , 8/-7

In this first lets make denominator of both rational numbers same.

LCM of 3 and 7 = 21

-28/21 , -24/21

So , the second rational number -24/21 is greater.

(f) -5/6 , 11/-24

In this first lets make denominator of both rational numbers same.

LCM of 6 and 24 = 24

-15/24 , -11/24

So , the second rational number -11/24 is greater.

(g) 3/5 , -2/3

In this one rational number i.e. 3/5 is positive and another rational number -2/3 is negative so , the positive rational number is greater which is 3/5

(h) 5/9 , -3/-8

5/9 , 3/8

In this first lets make denominator of both rational numbers same.

LCM of 8 and 9 = 72

40/72 , 27/72

So , the first rational number 40/72 is greater.

Hope it helps!
