Answer:

Explanation:

a] Arrangement of particles

Solids : The particles are closely packed.

Liquids : The particles are not very close like solids and not very far like gases.

Gases : The particles are very loosly packed.

b] Inter-molecular space

Solids : The intermolecular space is very less and can also be said to be negligable.

Liquids : The intermolecular space is comparatively more than solids but not as much as gases.

Gases : The intermolecular space is very large.

In other words we can say that solids have minimum intermolecular space while gases have the maximum intermolecular space.

c] Density

Solids : Have the high density

Liquids : Have a slightly less density compared to solids but more than gases.

Gases : Gases have low density.

To understand the process of sublimation we can take an example of Naphthalene balls or camphor.

Naphthalene balls : When we place this in our cupboard and check it after a week or so we see that the size of napthalene ball has decreased this is due to the sublimation.

Camphor : When we heat camphor we can clearly see that the solid mass has turned into a gas. Again this is due to the process of sublimation.

The reason why substances are sublimable in nature is because the intermolecular arrangement of these solid substances is not as closely packed as the normal solid substances.

Factors affecting evaporation :

  1. Temperature
  2. Boiling and melting point of the substance.

Hope this explanation helps you !!
