Given

  • ∠B = 50°

  • ∠PAQ = 80°

To Calculate

  • Value of x and y

Concept

  • Vertically Opposite Angle -When two lines intersect each other, then the opposite angles, formed due to intersection are called VerticallyOpposite Angle.

  • A pair of vertically opposite angles are always equal to each other.

  • Angle Sum Property - Angle sum property of triangle states that the sum of interior angles of a triangle is 180°.

Solution

∠PAQ = ∠BAC = y = 80° [ Vertically Opposite Angle ]

In △ABC

➞ ∠A + ∠B + ∠C = 180° [ Angle Sum Property ]

➞ y + 50° + x = 180°

➞ 80° + 50° + x = 180°

➞ 130° + x = 180°

➞ x = 180° - 130°

➞ x = 50°

Therefore, value of x and y is 50° and 80° respectively.
