Answer:

GIVEN :

• a = - 71

• b = 4

• c = - 5

TO PROVE :

a ×( b × c) = (a × b) × c

SOLUTION :

solving L.H.S (Left Hand Side)

=> - 71 × (4 × -5)

=> -71 × -20

=> 1420

solving R.H.S. (Right Hand Side)

=> (-71 × 4) × -5

=> - 284 × - 5

=> 1420

Since, LHS = RHS

Hence, proved

Step-by-step explanation:

a = -71

b = 4

c = -5

Now,

a × b = -71 × 4 = -284 ... equation (1)

b × c = 4 × -5 = -20 ... equation (2)

Left hand side of your equation,

LHS = a × (b × c)

= a × (-20) ... (from eqn (2))

= -71 × -20 = 1420

Right hand side of your equation,

RHS = (a × b) × c

= (-284) × c ... from equation (1)

= -284 × -5 = 1420

So, LHS and RHS are equal

Hence, Proved!

Side note: This is called the 'associative property of multiplication'

Hope that helps
