Answer:

Given, sinA = 1/√2 , cosA = ?

We know, sin²X + cos²X = 1

=> cos²X = 1-sin²X

=> cosX = ( 1 - sin²X )

So, cosA = √( 1 -sin²A )

=> cosA = √( 1 - (1/√2)² )

=> cosA = √( 1 - 1/2 )

=> cosA = √( 2 - 1 )/√2

=> cosA = 1/2

OR

sinA = 1/√2

=> A = 45°

=> cosA = cos45° = 1√2
