six and a half = 6 1/2, and 'three and three quarters' metres = 3 3/4 m

convert the improper fractions to mixed fractions, by multiplying denominator with the whole number and adding it to nuerator of the fraction.

we will get 13/2 and 15/4 m.

take lcm of 2 and 4, that is 4, and convert 13/2 to a fraction with denominator 4, that is, 26/4

add 26/4 and 15/4

we get 41/4 metres

divide to get decimal answer if needed, that is, 10.25
