x-y= 14. this is equation2
therefore x=30-y from equation 1
also x= 14+y from equation 2
comparing both of them we get x= 8 now put x= 8 in equation 1 we get y=22

AD=BC
x+y=30 ..eq1
x-y=14 ..eq2
by elimination method
2x=44
x=44/2
x=22 units
put value of x in eq1
22+y=30
