Mother (-ve), First child (+ve)

During delivery of first child some amount of foetal blood enters into maternal (mother) blood. Then mother's blood cells recognises the D-bodies and immune system of mother become weak.

During second child birth during the flow of food and blood these Anti-D-anti bodies enter into second child and causes destruction of foetal RBC.This is called as erythroblastosis foetalis.

The baby may born by jaundice or other disabilities.

To stop this, In 7th month of second pregnancy (Rh-D) Rhogam-D injection is given to mother.
