Let father's present age be y, son's present age be x and age difference be n

After n years son's age= x+n and father's age= y+n

(x+n)+(y+n)= 126

y-x= n

y= x+n

(x+n)+((x+n)+n)= 126

1) 2x+3n= 126

Before n years son's age= x-n and father's age= y-n

(x-n)+(y-n)= 38

(x-n)+((x+n)-n)=38

2) 2x-n=38

Solving eqn 1) and 2),

n=22

x=30

y=x+n=22+30=52
