hey mate..... the above answer is surely correct... the reason is that.... the aquatic animals have gills to breathe unlike terrestrial animals have lungs.

Gills help them to utilize oxygen dissolved in water......

now you have doubt that if they need oxygen so they can breathe in air also but the functioning of gills is different.....

when we go underwater.. our hairs float... and when we come out they get stick...

the same are the gills..... under water gills have spaces between them so that dissolved oxygen can pass through it... but when a fish is taken out its gills stick together and the respiration stops.
