1) The poet considered the parents as god because they know when to use and when to spare the rod. For us they give up their pleasure; about our welfare always they worry. ( answer is according to the poem)

2) need = feed ; obey = disobey

3) Our parents need so little for us ; but that little they need so much. we should obey them and thank them.

4) Soothing is the adjective in the last line.
