The (light) compensation point is the light intensity on the light curve where the rate of photosynthesis exactly matches the rate of cellular respiration. At this point, the uptake of CO2 through photosynthetic pathways is equal to the respiratory release of carbon dioxide, and the uptake of O2 by respiration is equal to the photosynthetic release of oxygen
Light compensation point is basically the point where the amount of respiration is equal to the amount of photosynthesis.
To get a better understanding, photosynthesis is a process using which plants convert the sunlight into energy. This process takes place in the presence of sun light and oxygen.
This clearly implies that in many cases, oxygen would be in deficit and ins oke it would be more.
Thus, a point where the rate of respiration and photosynthesis is equal is known as Compensation Point.
