The above experiment shows a electrolytic tank with two graphite electrodes connected to a circuit and a salt solution.

[1] The bulb will glow because the circuit is complete, an electrolyte of salt solution is used and electrodes are made up of graphite which is a good conductor of electricity.

When current flows through the electrolyte, the ions of the salt solution disassociates into free ions which enables them to flow.

[2] A salt solution is an electrolyte. Usually a salt made after neutralisation of strong acid and strong base is used because the ions can completely disassociate.

  1. Yes, I can see the glowing bulb. In the solution there is a complete circuit and a good Conductor of electricity known as Graphite.the ions of the salt solution broke into free ions which enables them to flow.
