1.When used appropriately, rules provide a sense of predictability and consistency for children, thereby promoting physical and emotional safety. Rules help guide actions toward desired results.

2.The Constitution is described as the soul of democracy due to following reasons : -

◆ It guards our national interests.

◆ It ensures that the majority group does not dominate the minorities.

◆ It plays a crucial role in democratic societies towards the achievement of desired goals.

◆ It does allow dictatorial or biased actions which may change the very basic structure of the Constitution.

◆ It guarantees certain rights based on equality to establish social , political and economic justice.

3.The British had been passing various constitutional Acts (1909, 1919 and 1935) which were mainly opposed the Indian nationalists. In 1946, the British decided to examine the possibility of granting independence to India. As a result, a British cabinet mission was despatched to India to hold discussions with the representatives of British India and to set up a constituent body and an executive council. The Constituent Assembly was formed in 1946 to draft the Constitution of the country. The Assembly consisted of about 300 people who were expert in their own fields. All of these issues played on the minds of the members of the Constituent Assembly as they drafted the Constitution. After years of debates and discussions, the constitution was finally adopted on 26 Jan, 1950.

4.The term minority is most commonly used to refer to communities that are numerically small in relation to the rest of the population. However, it is a concept that goes well beyond numbers. It encompasses issues of power, access to resources and has social and cultural dimensions. The Indian Constitution recognized that the culture of the majority influences the way in which society and government might express themselves. In such cases, size can be a disadvantage and lead to the marginalization of the relatively smaller communities.

Thus, safeguards are needed to protect minority communities against the possibility of being culturally dominated by the majority. The Constitution provides these safeguards because it is committed to protecting India’s cultural diversity and promoting equality as well as justice.
