Total are of the rectangular plane= L * B = 8*6= 48 cm^2

Now there are 5 identical squares cut from it.

The area of one square is = 2*2= 4cm^2.

The total area to be removed = 4cm^2 * 5

= 20cm^2

Area of the shaded portion is = 48- 20= 28cm^2.

Hope this helps.

First find the are of complete rectangle given that is .....
Area of rec.=l×b
8×6
=48cm^2
Now, subtract the areas of all Small squares
that will be
2×2=4
4×5=20cm^2
Hence, area of shaded portion will be 48-20
=28cm^2....
