Putting value of x in (7)
x+y=11
(5+y)+y=11
5+2y=11
2y=6
y=3


Putting y=3 in (6)
x-y=5
x-3=5
x=8

So,x=8 and y=3 in the given equations.


Hence,
Speed of boat in still water=x=8km/hr
Speed of stream=y=3km/hr.
