Answer:

On 8 August 1942 at the All-India Congress Committee session in Bombay, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi launched the 'Quit India' movement.

The objective of the movement is the withdrawal of the British troops and for full Independence. The movement is an important milestone in the nation's struggle for the Independence.

The Quit India movement had a deleterious effect on the struggle for Indian freedom, as almost all the leaders of the All-India Congress Movement were jailed within hours of Gandhi's speech. Opposition to the speech came not only from the British but also from internal sources.
