BeO>MgO>CaO>BaO (acidic order)

the most acidic oxide is BeO

Anu726: thanks
Anu726: but can u say why ?
bandgar110: as you can see the charge on cation and anion are the same so, all depends on the size of cation.

according to fajans’ rule as the size of cation increases the polarizing power decreases and covalent character decreases. Or ionic character increases. Hence basic character increases down the group.
Anu726: thank you very much !
