1 MARKS QUESTIONS
1.
A solenoid is a coil of insulated wire wound on a rod-shaped form made of solid iron, solid steel, or powdered iron which produces magnetic field when electric current passed through it.
2 MARKS QUESTIONS
1. Electromagnet is a device consisting of a wire wrapped around an iron core which act as a magnet when the electric current is passed through it.
2.Direct current is a current of constant magnitude flowing in one direction while an ale current is a current for which both the magnitude and direction change with time.
3.The rule used to find the direction of magnetic field around a current carrying conductor is FLEMING'S HAND RULE.According to this rule, stretch the thumb, fore-finger and middle finger of left hand such that they are mutually perpendicular. If the middle finger points in the direction of the magnetic field, the fore-finger points in the direction of flow of current, then the thumb points in the direction of motion i.e., force acting on the conductor.

2.A compass needle is a small bar magnet with north and south pole. The compass needle deflects due to repulsion/attraction with the bar magnet.
3.Principal- The principal of a dc motor is -whenever a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field it experience a magnetic field .The direction of this force is given by Fleming's hand rule.
