Answer:

easy

Step-by-step explanation:

no. a

add 2/7 and 3/4

2/7+(-3/4)

taking LCM, we have

8/28+(-21/28)

-14/28

now simplification

1/2

no. b

-9/10-5/8

by taking LCM we have

-36/40-25/40

-61/40

  • We have to evaluate the above expression by using the given data.

              Given data:-

              a) \frac{2}{7} +\frac{-3}{4}.

              b) \frac{-9}{10}- \frac{5}{8} .

             To find:- Value of the given expression.

             Solution:-

  • We will take the LCM of the denominators, and make denominators the same.
  • We will Convert the given fractions to equivalent fractions with the denominator as the LCM.
  • Adding the numerators over the denominators.

       Therefore,

       a)

            \begin{array}{l}\frac{2}{7}+\frac{-3}{4} \\=\frac{2 \times 4}{7 \times 4}+\frac{-3 \times 7}{4 \times 7} \\=\frac{8}{28}+\frac{-21}{28} \\=\frac{8+-21}{28} \\=-\frac{13}{28}\\=-0.464.\end{array}

        b)

               \begin{array}{l}\frac{-9}{10}-\frac{5}{8} \\=\frac{-9 \times 4}{10 \times 4}-\frac{5 \times 5}{8 \times 5} \\=\frac{-36}{40}-\frac{25}{40} \\=\frac{-36-25}{40} \\=-\frac{61}{40}\\=-1.525.\end{array}

     Hence we will get the value \frac{2}{7} +\frac{-3}{4}=-0.46 and  \frac{-9}{10}- \frac{5}{8}=-1.525.
