let the number in gp be a/r ,a,ar
now now if middle term is doubled it becomes 2a
now if becomes ap
so terms of ap ar a/r , 2a, ar
now
2a-a/r=ar-2a
(a will be cancel from both side)
2-1/r=r-2
now
2+2=r+1/r
4r=r^2+1
r^2-4r+1=0
now find the roots...
the positive root will be the answer as it is increasing gp.

hope it help
