distance =3m
time =0.5s
g=9.8
v=u+t-g
v=3+0.5-9.8
you get the answer v1+vb =12m/s

v = u + at

v_B = v_T + gt

v_B - v_T = gt

v_B - v_T = 9.8×0.5 = 4.9 m/s ———(1)

v² - u² = 2aS

v_B² - v_T² = 2×9.8×3 = 58.8

Using relation a² - b² = (a+)(a-b)

(v_B + v_T)(v_B - v_T) = 58.8

From equation (1) v_B - v_T = 4.9

(v_B + v_t)×4.9 = 58.8

v_B + v_T = 58.8/4.9 = 12

v_B + v_T = 12 m/s

First option is correct.
