Solution:

P(x) = 4x^2 -(8k^2 - 40k)x= 9

Given:

One zero of the equation is negative to the other

Let alpha and Beta be the roots

We know that sum of the roots is equal to the negative coefficient of x divided by the coefficient of x square

=> alpha + negative alpha = -b/a

=> 0 =-b/a

=> 8K^2 - 40k= 0

=> 8k (k-5) =O

=>K=0 or

K-5 = 0

=> K= 5

Thank you...

haripriyasharan: how can we equate alpha + negative alpha = 0
haripriyasharan: plz reply
KDPatak: let alpha = a , Then negative alpha would be = -a . The equate (add) them » a+ -a = 0
