Given ,

x = 5 + \sqrt{24}

\frac{1}{x} = \frac{1}{5 + \sqrt{24} } * \frac{5-\sqrt{24} }{5-\sqrt{24} }

\frac{1}{x} = \frac{5-\sqrt{24}}{(5)^2 - (\sqrt{24})^2 }

\frac{5-\sqrt{24} }{25-24}

5-\sqrt{24}

Step :- 2

( x + \frac{1}{x} ) = 5 + \sqrt{24} + 5 - \sqrt{24}

⇒ 5 + 5

⇒ 10

Step :- 3

( x + \frac{1}{x} )^2 = (10)^2

x^2 + 2 * x * \frac{1}{x} + \frac{1}{x^2} = 100

x^2 + \frac{1}{x^2} = 100 - 2

x^2 + \frac{1}{x^2} = 98

Hence , Option C is the Correct answer
