a fixed temperature at which a solid substance melts and changes to liquid form at atmospheric pressure is called melting point of solid..

when heat energy is supplied to a solid the particles absorbs this energy which leads to an increase in kinetic energy and subsequently when enough energy is absorbed , the solid turns into liquid..
