Explanation:

Ans 1- a) Respiration

SEE HOW THIS IS THE ANSWER-Respiration is the process in which nutrients are breakdown to give energy.

Respiration are of two type. • Aerobic respiration:- When food is breakdown in the presence of oxygen.

In this respiration more amount of energy is released that is 38ATP

• Anaerobic respiration:-When food is breakdown in the absence of oxygen.

In this respiration less amount of energy is released that is 2ATP.

ANS 2 a)Mitochondria.

SEE HOW THIS IS THE ANSWER-It is because mitochondria contains most of the enzymes required for complete oxidation of glucose.

Complete oxidation of glucose and ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production can be divided into five steps: glycolysis, pyruvate dehydrogenase reaction (conversion of pyruvate into acetyl Co-A), Krebs cycle, electron transport chain, and oxidative phosphorylation (ATP synthase).

Glycolysis takes place in cytoplasm while all other reactions take place in mitochondria.

Krebs cycle and oxidation of pyruvate takes place in mitochondrial cortex.

Electron transport chain is located in the inner membrane of mitochondria. It derive protons in inter-membrane space of mitochondria and forms proton gradient across inner membrane.

Lastly, ATP synthase located in the inner membrane uses the energy derived from chemiosmosis (protons from inter-membrane space are transported into the matrix down the concentration gradient) to phosphorylate ADP to ATP.

ANS 3 b) Cytoplasm

SEE HOW THIS IS THE ANSWER-Cytokinesis is the process in which the cytoplasm of a single cell divides to form two daughter cells.

Animal cells perform this by forming a cleavage furrow while plant cells construct a cell plate down the middle of the cell.
