Producers or green plants are eaten by herbivores. Thus, the number of plants are kept in check by the herbivores.

2.Forests conserve soil by creating both a canopy and a root system that helps to prevent erosion. In addition, their leaf litter decomposes over time which releases the nutrients that they have absorbed from the soil to enrich the existing soil as well as creating new soil.
