The difference between residual and transported is: If the product of rock weathering are still present at the place origin, the soil is called residual.
If the  soil has been transported away from its place of origin by wind water or any agency and has been redeposited  elsewhere, it is called transported soil.

what is flood plain?
An area of low-lying ground adjacent to a river, formed mainly of river sediments and subject to flooding. It  is an area of land adjacent to stream or river which stretches from the banks of its channel to the base of the enclosing valley walls and which experience flooding  during period of high discharge.

How does composition of rock effect mechanical weathering?
A rock is made up of aggregate of  one or more minerals. Rocks may be hard,
minerals is naturally occurring organic and inorganic substances, having an elderly atomic structure and definite chemical composition and physical properties.

How does mechanical weathering takes place?
Form of mechanical weathering that occurs whenever one rock hits another. Water enters a crack, expands as it freezes, and wedges the rock apart.
