Question 1

Area of waste = area of square - area of circle

Side of square = 5 cm

Diameter of circle = 5 cm

radius = 5 cm / 2

Area = > ( 5 cm )² - π ( 5 cm / 2 )²

= > 25 cm² - π × 25 cm² / 4

= > 25 cm² - 6.25 cm² × 3.14

= > 25 cm² - 19.625 cm²

= > 5.375 cm²

ANSWER :

5.375 cm²

Question 2

Radius of big circle = 20 m

Radius of small circle = 20 m - 5 m

= 15 m

Area of path = π R² - π r²

= > π ( R² - r² )

= > π ( 20² - 15² )

= > π ( 20 + 15 )( 20 - 15 )

= > π × 35 × 5

= > π × 175

= > 175 × 22 / 7

= > 25 × 22

= > 550

ANSWER :

550 m²
