Velocity of the particle (v) and magnetic field (B) are right angles to each other then it deflects the particle to 90 degrees to  both  v and B. This is the property of magnetic field on moving charged particles.

Magnetic field  exert no force on stationary particles and also particles moving parallel to the magnetic field.
