STEP-BY-STEP EXPLANATION:

(i) Area of a pallelogram = b×h ( base × height )

= (20 × 12) cm

= 240 cm

(ii) In triangle DCE,

  • < CED = 90°
  • E is the midpoint of AB. So,15/2 = 7.5cm = EC
  • DC = 20 cm

Now we can say that, triangle DCE is right angled triangle.

Then,

(DC)^2 = (EC)^2 + (DE)^2 (pythagoras therom)

(20)^2 = (7.5)^2 + (DE)^2

400 = 56.25 + (DE)^2

400 - 56.25 = (DE)^2

343.75 = (DE)^2

DE = 18.54 cm
