In triangleABC,

DE||BC.

So, BPT ..

AE/EC = AD/DB.

=> (x+2)/(x-1) = x/(x-2)

=> (x-2)(x+2)= x (x-1)

$= > \: {x}^{2} - 4 = {x}^{2} - x$

=> x =4.
