Answer:

Let Mohan's age be x years and Madan's age be y years.

Ages before 4 years,

Mohan = ( x - 4 )

Madan = ( y - 4 )

By the 1st condition,

x + y = 16 ............................1

By the 2nd condition,

( y - 4 ) = 3 × ( x - 4 ) y - 4.

= 3x - 12

y. = 3x - 12+4

y - 3x = - 8

3x-y. = 8..........................2

Adding eq 1 and eq 2 ,

x + y = 16

+

3x -y = 8

4x. = 24

x = 24

4

x = 6

Now,

Substituting ( x = 6 ) in eq 1 ,

x + y = 16

6 + y = 16

y = 16 - 6

y = 10

But,

Mohan's age = x = 6years

Madan's age = y = 10years

I hope it will help you

Step-by-step explanation:

according to the situation 1:

let madan's be x

let madan's be xand mohan's age be y

let madan's be xand mohan's age be ySum of age of Madan and Mohan is 16

x+y=16

x+y=16-4-4=8

according to the situation 2:

four years back

four years backlet madan's be x-4

four years backlet madan's be x-4and mohan's age be y-4

(x-4)=4(y-4)

x=4y-16+4

x=4(y-3)

x=4(y-3)

put the value of x in situation 1:

4(y-3)+y=8

4y+y-12=8

5y=12+8=20

y=20/5=4

:. Mohan's age is 4

and Madam's age is 12
