\huge\underline{\underline{\blue{\sf{Required\:answer:-}}}}

(a) BaCl₂ + K₂SO₄ → BaSO₄ + 2KCl

(b) 2K + 2H₂O → 2KOH + H₂

Explanation :-

(a) Barium chloride react with potassium sulphate , barium sulphate and potassium chloride are formed.

Now , Writing a chemical equation as per the given data

BaCl₂ + K₂SO₄ → BaSO₄ + KCl

Now , Balancing the chemical equation

  • Amount of Ba before reaction = 1

  • Amount of Cl before reaction = 2

  • Amount of K before reaction = 2

  • Amount of S before reaction = 1

  • Amount of Oxygen before reaction = 4

Now , Observing the products part

  • Amount of Ba after reaction = 1

  • Amount of Cl after reaction = 1

  • Amount of K after reaction = 1

  • Amount of S after reaction = 1

  • Amount of Oxygen after reaction = 4

Amount of K and Cl are unequal . So to make the equation balanced ,

BaCl₂ + K₂SO₄ → BaSO₄ + 2KCl

Now Amount before and after the reaction are balamced.

Hence , The required chemical reaction comes out to be ;

BaCl₂ + K₂SO₄ → BaSO₄ + 2KCl

(b) Potassium metal reacts with water to give potassium hydroxide and hydrogen gas.

Now , Writing a chemical equation as per the given data

K + H₂O → KOH + H₂

Now , Balancing the chemical equation

  • Amount of K before reaction = 1

  • Amount of H before reaction = 2

  • Amount of O before reaction = 1

Now , Observing the products part

  • Amount of K after reaction = 1

  • Amount of H after reaction = 1 + 2 = 3

  • Amount of O after reaction = 1

Amount of Hydrogen before and after reaction are not equal . To make them equal , the reaction becomes

2K + 2H₂O → 2KOH + H₂

Now , that the amount before and after the reaction were equal.

Hence , The required balanced chemical equation comes out to be ;

2K + 2H₂O → 2KOH + H₂
