Difference between monocarpellary and multicarpellary
Explanation:
- The female reproductive part of the flower is carpel.Flower only a modified shoot with four whorls of floral leaves If the pistil is made up of single megasprophyll or carpel it is monocarpellary pistil when the flower is having one carpel then the ovary is said to be monocarpellary flower.
- When the flower is made up of two or more carpels then the pistil is said to be multicarpellary.
- If the carpels of the ovary united together then the multicarpellary ovary is said to be syncarpous , if the carpels are free from one another then the carpel is said to be apocarpous pistil.
- Note :-monocarpellary doesn't mean it has one ovule only. It may have one or more than one depends upon species.
