Moment of inertia of two rings=Moment of individual rings

Moment of inertia of first ring(about a tangent)=Icm+Ma²

                                                                             =MR²/2+MR²

                                                                             =3MR²/2

Moment of inertia of second ring=MR²

therefore, moment of inertia of two rings=3MR²/2+MR²

                                                                    =5MR²/2
